TRUMPF and Cutlite Enter Strategic Partnership to Expand Laser and Tube Cutting Portfolio
Ditzingen / Prato, 7 August 2026 – TRUMPF, a leading German high-tech company, and Italian laser machine manufacturer Cutlite are entering a strategic partnership aimed at expanding their capabilities in large-format, high-power laser cutting and oversize tube cutting.
As part of the agreement, TRUMPF is acquiring the business of Cutlite Penta S.p.A. from its ultimate parent company, El.En. S.p.A. Cutlite will continue operating under its established brand, with its own manufacturing, sales, and service facilities.
The transaction is expected to close during the second half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Expanding capabilities in large-format and high-power laser cutting
Cutlite brings more than 34 years of experience in high-performance laser cutting systems and has developed a strong reputation for customised, large-format cutting solutions.
Based in Prato, Italy, the company employs approximately 190 people and specialises in bespoke laser cutting machines designed around demanding customer applications.
A key area of Cutlite’s expertise is very high-power fibre laser cutting, with systems ranging from 30 kW to 60 kW.
These high-power solutions offer an alternative to traditional plasma cutting for certain large-format applications, with the potential to deliver increased cutting speeds and improved energy efficiency.
The partnership therefore strengthens the combined offering across an increasingly broad range of sheet metal fabrication requirements.
Cutlite will retain its own identity
An important part of the agreement is that Cutlite will remain an independent brand.
The company will continue to develop and manufacture its customised large-format cutting systems while maintaining its own manufacturing, sales and service capabilities.
This means existing Cutlite customers can continue to benefit from the products, expertise and service relationships they already know, while gaining easier access to the broader TRUMPF ecosystem.
At the same time, TRUMPF customers will gain access to complementary Cutlite technologies and expertise in specialised large-format applications.

Combining complementary strengths
According to TRUMPF Machine Tools CTO Tom Schneider, the partnership brings together specialised manufacturing expertise, an established brand and customer trust with TRUMPF’s technological capabilities and global network.
The collaboration is intended to strengthen TRUMPF’s market presence while supporting further innovation in fibre laser cutting technology.
For Cutlite, the partnership creates opportunities to build on its industrial and technological heritage while benefiting from TRUMPF’s international presence and resources.
What this means for the sheet metal industry
The laser cutting industry continues to evolve as manufacturers look for ways to improve productivity, flexibility, and operating efficiency.
The combination of TRUMPF’s extensive technology portfolio and Cutlite’s expertise in custom-built, large-format and very high-power laser systems creates a complementary offering for manufacturers working with demanding sheet metal and tube applications.
For customers, the partnership could mean greater access to specialised cutting technologies across a wider range of applications, machine formats and material requirements.
