Retecon has long practiced some form of corporate social and environmental responsibility with the broad goal, simply, of contributing to the well-being of the communities and society we affect and on which we depend.


Mindful of the vision and mission of the Retecon Group of companies we have had an apprenticeship programme in place for over 20 years.

It has been clear to us that the best way to find skilled CNC millwrights to support our wide range of products as well as our customers in product manufacturing, is to teach them ourselves. With local millwright Learnerships and “on the job” training alongside our experienced technicians, we offer specialised CNC millwright training for interested youngsters that are embarking on their careers.

Many of these “apprentices” stay with us after they have qualified, and we support them with ongoing specialised training overseas with the machine manufacturers.


The Commercial and Advancement Training Scheme (C.A.T.S) was founded in 1985 by the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and is the training department of the South-African-German-Training Services (SAGTS) management company. The C.A.T.S takes care of the dual training model established in Germany as well as the integration of theory and practice in the workplace.

The Commercial and Advancement Training Scheme C.A.T.S is in close contact with both South African and German companies throughout the country and has developed training programmes in collaboration with the current SETA Curriculum (Sector Education Training Authority) to offer unique training methods tailored to the specific training needs of member companies and sponsors.

The C.A.T.S Programme is a two-year vocational training programme which leads to a Dual Certificate of competency in Business Administration, which is valid in Germany (DIHK) and in South Africa (FASSET/ ICB) Certificate at NQF Level 5.

95% of students that complete the programme are absorbed immediately on completion by their training companies, 5% are usually employed elsewhere within the six months of completion if the company is not able to employ them.

Retecon has been able to train a total number of 32 C.A.T.S students since its inception in the Group as of 2001.


Retecon is proud to work with the LLC Academy in partnership with The Teachers Learning Centre (TLC), who are pioneering an Early Childhood Development (ECD) course for deaf teachers’ assistants. The classes are run on a Saturday. The training material for able bodied students has been adapted by the trainer, who uses sign language to deliver the weekly training sessions. The course, which usually take a year, runs over 18 months to accommodate the needs of deaf student teachers.

We provide training on various attributes in the work environment, personal development and the skills required within the workplace for our employees, to name a few.

VUCA is an acronym used to describe the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations. These words aptly define the world that we live in and the state of our current world of work. The VUCA programme aims to equip learners with the skills needed to succeed in the world of work.

The programme aims to:

  • Develop and prepare school leavers for the workplace.
  • Develop and prepare recent graduates for workplace challenges.
  • Equip existing employees with skills required in a VUCA world of work.
  • Enhance the leadership skills of existing Supervisors and Managers.

It follows an integrated approach, allowing whole person development within the demands of industry. The combination of attributes, skills, knowledge, attitude and thinking are addressed in each of the components.

  • Managing self and others
  • Understanding self and others
  • Developing productive behaviours
  • Communicating with effect

Through effective communication, culture is built, companies are able to grow, and clients are satisfied.
