RETECON assists with the planting of seedlings for the Tembisa Community.

In December 2017, Retecon donated R20 000 to a foundation by the name of Manger Care towards seedlings for the Tembisa community.

We were informed 3 weeks ago that a few of the seedlings were ready to be planted and asked whether volunteers from Retecon would be available to assist with the planting on the 7th April 2018, to which we agreed as we wanted to be a part of and assist with the initiative.

On the 7th April 2018, 6 volunteers from Retecon met at the Manger Care Centre in Benoni, hyped and ready to get their hands dirty. We, with 3 of Manger Care employees were transported to a farm by the name of Phaphama in Tembisa, where we were met by the owner of the farm with his mother and friend.

They gave us a brief history of the farm before spending almost 3 hours with them prepping, watering and planting over 1000 seedlings, which consisted of spring onion, cabbage, normal spinach and mustard spinach.

The owners of the farm where very appreciative for the assistance and donation and couldn’t stop thanking us with a huge grin on their faces.

A HUGE thank you goes out to those that took the time to help with the planting of the seedlings in Tembisa, it is greatly appreciated and fun was had by all.
